Critik Guidelines

Our community standards for creating thoughtful, fair, and impactful music reviews. These guidelines help maintain the quality and integrity that makes CritikHub trusted by artists and fans alike.

Scoring System

Our scoring system uses a 0-100 scale to provide nuanced evaluations of music. Each score falls into one of three categories that help listeners quickly understand the overall sentiment.

70+

Highly recommended. The music demonstrates exceptional quality, creativity, or cultural significance.

50-69

Mixed

Has merit but with notable flaws. Worth checking out for fans of the genre or artist.

0-49

Noise

Falls short of expectations. Significant issues with execution, originality, or quality.

    Production Quality

  • 3

    Lyrical Content

Songwriting, storytelling, wordplay, and thematic depth.

  • 4

    Performance

Vocal delivery, instrumental skill, and emotional expression.

  • 5

  • Address both strengths and areas for improvement

  • Use proper grammar and proofread before submitting

Content Guidelines

Focus on the Music

Reviews should primarily discuss the music itself — the sound, composition, production, and artistic merit. While context about an artist's life can be relevant, avoid making the review about personal drama or gossip.

Be Constructive

Critik should be constructive and specific. Instead of saying "this is bad," explain what doesn't work and why. Help artists and listeners understand your perspective with clear reasoning.

Respect Artists

You can dislike music while still respecting the artist. Avoid personal attacks, mockery, or demeaning language. Critique the work, not the person.

Original Content Only

All reviews must be your own original work. Do not copy from other publications, reviews, or AI-generated content. Plagiarism results in immediate removal.

Ethics & Integrity

Conflict of Interest

You must disclose any personal or financial relationship with an artist before reviewing their work. This includes: being friends or family, having worked with them, or receiving compensation. Undisclosed conflicts will result in review removal and potential account suspension.

No Pay-for-Play

Never accept payment or gifts in exchange for positive reviews. This undermines the entire platform's credibility.

Honest Scoring

Your scores should reflect your genuine opinion. Don't inflate or deflate scores based on an artist's popularity or controversy.

Transparency

If you update a review after initial publication, note what was changed and why. Stand by your opinions.
